Mike's recent podcast got me thinking that I've seen a lot of movies but feel I might be missing out on some gems.

Below is a list of my Top Movies in alphabetical order. I'd love to see some others or feel free to comment on some of mine you've seen or haven't seen.

I like to think I have a good mix from romantic comedy to horror. Sadly I haven't seen too many flicks prior to 1980. I know sacrilege.

I haven't seen some of these.

I really like that Freddy vs. Jason is on your list. That was both a great Nightmare and 13th movie. Very underrated.

I thought I wouldn't like the Notebook, but I was surprised. Really good.

Lots of Nolan on your list. Good director.

I like Tarantino directed films (like Jackie Brown & Pulp Fiction)...

my favorite movie of 2008 was "In search of a midnight kiss". a very well done independent movie. reminded my a bit of "Swingers"(with Vinced Vaughn and Jon Favreau)...

as for the list. I can definitely recommend "house of sand and fog". ben kingsley and jenniffer connelly have outstanding performances. same goes for Don Cheadle in Hotel Rwanda.

Old School and Wedding Crashers are definitely one of the better comedies from the last years.

as for memento. I cannot understand why so many people adore this movie. always get the feeling they like it because it's different....it's a bit supervalued, imho.

two other movies that are definitely enjoyable are "before the devil knows you're dead" and "transsiberian".

I did enjoy "before the devil know you're dead". Such self-imposed destruction. Couldn't take my eyes away. That and Marissa Tomei never looked better. I'd replace this with "Memento". I think it's more that I like anything Christopher Nolan. For me he can do no wrong.

I'll need to check out "In Search of a Midnight Kiss" b/c I loved "Swingers". If it's anything like the title certainly can relate to some desperate New Years

As for "Transiberrean" didn't really resonate with me.

Just saw "Benjamin Button". Pretty good. I'd relate it to an epic journey type movie such as "Forest Gump". It did have some Fincher-esque qualities, but was a bit of a departure from his usual material.

Still looking to see "The Wrestler", "Slumdog Millionaire", "Gran Torino", "Milk", etc.

Happy New Year!

Rob
